Minor Match: Castletownbere Minors V Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh
Castletownbere Minors played Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh in an exciting encounter in Droum on Thursday last in the West Region League. The first half consisted of plenty of strong,solid football from the Castletown lads with dogged defence and pressure from the backs and goalie, clever lay offs and link ups from midfield and the forwards and superb scoring against a stiff wind. The visitors also took their chances well including a well placed penalty and the first half ended on the score of 4/2 to 2/2 in ‘Town’s favour. The second half was a tense one one that saw Béal Átha up the ante scoring two goals and two points giving them a two point advantage. Castletownbere hit back with a goal and a point but Béal Átha ‘n Ghaorthaidh,not to be undone, sent four points over the bar. ‘Town stepped it up again and the ball hit the back of the net but the visitors scored the final point,levelled it and the final score was 6/5 to 4/11. U16’s Castletownbere v Glengarriff
Castletownbere Under 16’s met Glengarriff in very poor weather conditions in Droum in the West Region League recently. Castletown, aided by a strong wind in the first half, took their chances well and led at half time 2/3 to 0/0. Glengarriff started the second half strongly but Castletownbere’s determination was evident and they began to pull away and won on the final score of 6/8 to 1/6.
