U14 West Region Championship
Well done to Town U14’s who won the Semi final. The score was Town 3.14 Goleen 2.9
Premier Intermediate Football Championship
A lovely evening for a game of football in Ballingeary. The town faithful made the journey east. The well manicured pitch a light cross field breeze and the scene was set. Town were taking on St Vincent’s from the city in this relegation battle. From the throw in Town had the better of the early exchanges but no scores for either side in the first 5 minutes. Towns Andrew O Sullivan breached the Vincent’s defence and opened towns account with a well taken point. Gary Murphy doubled towns account the following minute with a well worked score. Town were controlling things around the middle of the park. 11 minutes in Gary Murphy attacked down the left wing and laid off a perfect pass for Dave Fenton to finish with a lovely fisted point. in the 15th minute. Dave Fenton tacked on another point. Vincent’s were under pressure but were not going to throw in th towel at this early stage and hit back with three unanswered points before the ref blew for half time. town were ahead by 2 with the score town 5 points Vincent’s 3 points. Two minutes in to the second half Andrew o Sullivan struck a fine point from play with Vincent’s tacking on another as if to let town know they were not going to have things all their own way. There was no let up from the mid field area. Andrew O Sullivan struck again with another point from play followed by a point from David Murphy. Town were going well but Vincent’s tore down field and brought a fine save from keeper John Paul Sheehan yielding them a point. it could have easily been a goal and would have changed the complexion of the game. Town won possession from the kick out and Dave Fenton tagged on a point. Vincent’s had a player red carded and with sub Donagh ban o Sullivan fisting a point town were in the driving seat and looked to have this one on the bag In the 54th min defender Lorcan Harrington raided down the right flank and kicked over a splendid point. Vincents got two further points but it was to be towns night . The town faithful returned to the West having seen a fine performance from the side who secured their status for another season final score town 11pts St Vincent’s 7pts
