Castletownbere Gaa News

Well done to our U14’s today on winning the County Semi Final!!

Castletownbere 3.22 Ballingeary 2.5

Castletownbere Under 14’s played Béal Atha’ n Ghaorthaigh in Droum on Sunday, 9th October in perfect conditions in the West Region D Semi-Final. The Beal Atha lads got off to a great start when the ball found the back of the Castletownbere net but the home team soon settled and the spectators were treated to some classy combinations from midfield to the forwards, paying off with impressive scoring. As Castletown began to pull away, the backs kept the pressure on, a constant thorn in the visitors side and the first half finished on the score of 1/10 to 1/1 in Castletownbere’s favour. The second half saw ‘Town exert more dominance but the visitors hit the mark also with some lovely scores. Beal Atha were denied a goal with a great save by the ‘Town goalkeeper but they persevered and rattled the back of the ‘Town net with a super shot. All of the Castletown substitutions were introduced, each contributed very well and it was the Castletownbere lads with their tireless work rate that had a well deserved victory. The match ended on the final score of 3/22 to 2/5. Team – Killian Murphy, Cormac Harrington, Shane Power(0/1), Jonathan Harrington-Rosales, Donagh Murphy(Captain,0/1),Dylan Gonnelly(0/1), Tomás Murphy(0/4), Daniel Hanley(0/9),Ewan O’Sullivan(0/1), Fintan Fenner(0/1), Lee Kelly(1/2), Adam Walsh.
